Cassandra "Andi" Brand is a character in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. She is portrayed by Janelle Monáe and is the twin sister of Helen Brand.
Biography[]
Born in Alabama, Andi grew up with her twin sister Helen. She showed signs of far-reaching ambitions at an early age, and kept a diary from age six, calling it 'Notes for Future Biographers.' Immediately after graduating high school, Andi left for New York to make it on her own. Andi had played with Helen imitating wealthy women since their childhood, and used that to create a smooth, sophisticated voice and image, covering up her original southern accent, to help reach success.
While in New York, she established a regular circle of friends, sensing potential in each of them - unsuccessful politico Claire Debella, substitute science teacher Lionel Toussaint, video-gamer Duke Cody, and former supermodel Birdie Jay. The group met frequently at a bar called the Glass Onion and became known as 'The Disruptors.' At some point she became estranged from Helen when her sister tried to warn her of their true nature.
Eventually Andi met Miles Bron and brought him into the group. Though he was disliked by the others, Andi sense Miles' charm and ambition had potential as well, which proved true when he helped the others reach their first steps to success. Andi eventually came up with a revolutionary idea while scribbling on a napkin and brought Miles in to help her launch a company around it called Alpha, becoming highly successful and wealthy, and bringing her friends along to share in her success. However, when Miles wanted to take things too far and promote a dangerously unstable hydrogen-based fuel called Klear, Andi put her foot down and threatened to leave, taking half the company with her. Miles kicked her out as CEO and forced their friends to back him up in court, claiming that he, not Andi, had come up with the idea that started it. Her only evidence of intellectual ownership was the napkin she had originally written the idea on, stamped with the now out-of-business Glass Onion's logo, proving its authenticity. Andi was frustrated that her friends turned on her, but she was determined to show the world it was really her idea for the company. She found the paper napkin with her ideas written on it and informed the Disruptors in a last offer to make amends, but Miles, visiting her immediately after the message was sent, murdered her to cover up her claims by poisoning her coffee. He then placed her body in her car with the gas on to make it appear a suicide. After her death, Helen, regretful over not being there for her sister, teamed with detective Benoit Blanc to expose Andi's true killer, proving equal to her sister in courage and intelligence.
